The Wakin' Up Blues Five O'clock the doorbell rings Satan takes off his shoes Seven days later it's the same damn thing man I got these wakin' up blues Here I am a daily example of what one can do to oneself it's the same ol' line it's my desperation leaving the world to itself Lonely is as lonely does peaceable, yea, for awhile Wait for the hour, wait for the day Hey I've been waiting for all of my life Here I am with the latest expression one I keep tryin' to sell it's the same ol' line, it's my desperation leaving the world to itself I'll be leaving the world to itself Oh God, I see, the line ahead drawn on the paper of life and as the audience learns to forget we all go on paying the price Here we are the bravest of strangers planning on conquering hell but it's the same ol' line it's our desperation leaving the world to itself we'll be leaving the world to itself we'll be leaving the world to itself

Before The Fall It was time for the fall Everyone was so patient Everyone was enthralled No bitter pill no remorse Everybody was so gracious Everyone stayed the course In my dreams I moved to Colorado In my dreams I stood before them all Once upon a time in New York City Once upon a time before the fall Nothing burned, nothing gained All their lies were mistaken All their lives were the same The story told an ancient tome All the roads were less taken All the roads led back home In my dreams I moved to Colorado In my dreams I stood before them all Once upon a time in New York City Once upon a time before the fall It was late the moon was high Shining over the mountain Shining into the night What the prophet told is now fulfilled Buried under the hard soil Buried under the hill In my dreams I moved to Colorado In my dreams I stood before them all Once upon a time in New York City Once upon a time before the fall

Much For Nothin' Well she wasn't much for talking ah but I loved her anyway she stole my heart away and she wasn't much for thinking ah but I loved her anyway she stole my heart away We would lie in the summer sun warm in the arms of our passion and if time would allow we would do it all again Yea she wasn't much to look at ah but I loved her anyway she stole my heart away We would take in the evening air walking around 'til we found some dark little secret place where we could lie on the ground Well she wasn't much for nothin' ah but I loved her anyway she stole my heart away she stole my heart away she stole my heart away

Fall In Love 03:08
Fall In Love Why don't you fall in love with me? Why don't you fall in love with me? it's so easy, I'm here for you just come on over and see what I can do Why don't you fall in love with me? Why don't you give my love a try? Why don't you give my love a try? it's automatic when you know for sure so come on over, open up my door Why don't you give my love a try? If you would be my girl I'd open up your eyes you'd see a brand new world and then you'd realize You're gonna go fall in love with me You're gonna go fall in love with me it's my promise that I'll never leave I've got lotsa more promises up my sleeve You're gonna go fall in love with me If I could call you mine you'd never walk away and then the sun would shine, we'd have a brand new day You're gonna go fall in love with me You're gonna go fall in love with me

Out of the Rain I saw her standing in the middle of the street Her printed dress was all a mess She was crying and her hand was holding out a rose to me I took that rose and brought her in out of the rain A crowded backseat wasn’t long ago for me I kept that car a shining light I drove it everywhere for everyone to see Look at me, look at me A busy laundromat was home enough for me The smell of soap to keep me clean I used to hang around and watch the colors fade Just like me, a lot like me I saw her standing in the middle of the street Her printed dress was all a mess She was crying and her hand was holding out a rose to me I took that rose and brought her in out of the rain A simple sunset was parade enough for me I liked to watch the day go down The early evening meant the night would soon be free Just like me, just like me I saw her standing in the middle of the street Her printed dress was all a mess She was crying and her hand was holding out a rose to me I took that rose and brought her in out of the rain

What’s a Little Rock ‘n’ Roll Between Friends I went to see my baby on the other side of town it took me nearly forty minutes to thumb a pickup down He dropped me off, I knocked on her door She opened up and shouted, "What are you here for?!" "Well, you got a car, I got some money, let's put 'em both together and and we'll lose it honey what's a little rock 'n' roll between friends?" We did a little drinkin' up at Maggie's Grill A buddy of mine asked her if she would dance she said, "I surely will!!" He grabbed her hand but then he grabbed her ass I knocked over the table shoutin', "Not so fast!!" He looked at my fist, I looked at his face We had a little laugh and then we trashed the place Hey what's a little rock 'n' roll between friends. I woke up Sunday morning under the County seat The sheriff poked me with a stick and asked me if I wanted to eat When I opened my eyes and I saw his smile I figured that I might be sleepin' there for a while Well the judge and jury gave me half a year but the boys in lock-up say I've nothin' to fear I mean now what's a little rock 'n' roll between friends oh tell me what's a little rock 'n' roll between friends What's a little rock 'n' roll between friends

Circus 03:58
ircus The Cyclopes lady, the mechanical man the boy with the hair on his face the Siamese twins will dance and spin with the midgets from outer space Huddled in fear the woman of tears will laugh only if no one is around she fondles her rings as the calliope sings the circus has come to this town The former hunchback of Notre Dame is waiting high up in the tower the cue to replay for the third time today his execution begins on the hour The young and the old have their fortunes retold as the children run wild on the grounds When the summer is high as the sun in the sky the circus returns to this town The Ferris wheel takes you up over the treetops as high as the steeples and lends you a piece of the sky the boys and the girls on the midway are kissing a full moon is rising on high The lions and the tigers the bears and the dog are waiting for dinner to come the man with the tattoos is joking with the girl who juggles with knives and guns and there's a man all alone on the edge of the world ready to jump straight down into a bucket just three feet deep I hope that he doesn't drown the circus has come to this town The Ferris wheel takes you up over the treetops as high as the steeples and lends you a piece of the sky the boys and the girls on the midway are kissing a full moon is rising on high There's no place else I'd rather be than on this merry go round holding the hand and the heart of you lost in the sight and the sound the circus has come to this town

My Love For You Where the day begins is where the nighttime ends Happy as the day is long That’s my love for you When we are alone And you hold me close Lasting as the night goes on That’s my love for you What a magic world Wonderful for sure Each and every moment I’m lost in you girl Wish upon a dream Simple as it seems Shining like the morning star That’s my love for you What a magic world Wonderful for sure Each and every moment I’m lost in you girl Wish upon a dream Simple as it seems Shining like the morning star That’s my love for you

Lesson In Gray One day the sadness washed over me Like a sudden autumn rain shower Left me all wet from the tears that I let Crying for hours and hours now I ain’t been the same since that long ago day Seems the sadder the harder I try Trying to hold back this river from out of my eyes Oh help me dear Jesus get a hold of myself I’m trying to win back my smile But every day is a lesson in gray And I’m learning it might be a while I’m learning it might be a while Sunday is kept for the prayerful To ask of the Lord for His grace And Monday this jerk heads his way back to work Determined to pick up the pace Tuesday, the same, Wednesday, no change Thursday and Friday stand pat And Saturday’s wasted at home with the kids and the cats Oh help me dear Jesus get a hold of myself I’m trying to win back my smile But every day is a lesson in gray And I’m learning it might be a while I’m learning it might be a while Well maybe I ought to stop thinking And maybe I ought to slow down But I’m tied by these strings to a million odd things Keep me spinning around and around So I’ll probably cry ‘til the day that I die And the dirt is thrown over my grave And all her relatives say, “well it’s time now he finally behaved” Oh help me dear Jesus get a hold of myself I’m trying to win back my smile But every day is a lesson in gray And I’m learning it might be a while I’m learning it might be a while

Mary’s Garden Forest fire, green turns to gold in her hands touched by her fingers, rises a chorus of sighs Spring to summer, drinking up rain from the ground still life in motion, bursting with colors Come into Mary’s garden see all her children come into Mary's garden open the gate and you're gone Tall white angels, wind gently sings as they sway leaving no footprints, reaching their arms to the sky Small on royal, proudly displaying his cloak sent down from heaven, never to leave her Come into Mary’s garden see all her children come into Mary's garden open the gate and you're gone What are hours, shadows play long on your eyes sleep but a moment, awake to a new dawn Come into Mary’s garden see all her children come into Mary’s garden open the gate and you're into Mary's garden see all her children come into Mary's garden open the gate and you're gone

Waiting For Winter Waiting for winter to start The leaves have all fallen The trees are all barren and out in the yard The ground is now ready for snow Wait for the cold wind to blow Bundled up tight The dim light reveals naught but a shadow Passing the gray shuttered windows Where everything’s boarded up tight The chairs and umbrellas are tucked out of sight The waves play for no one the beaches are empty and stark Waiting for winter to start Wait for the snow to begin Slowly at first a few flakes are picked up by the wind And blown in the face of a man Who is walking alone with his thoughts Failing to notice, the snow falls and covers The rocks and the trash from the tide by the old porch Where everything’s boarded up tight The chairs and umbrellas are tucked out of sight The waves play for no one the beaches are empty and stark Waiting for winter to start Hearing the bark of a stray dog as darkness Descends on the quiet old town Pausing a moment to brush off his shoulders The lights from a car turn the snowflakes to stars falling down Everything’s boarded up tight The chairs and umbrellas are tucked out of sight The waves play for no one, the beaches are empty and Everything’s boarded up tight Most everyone fled for the warmth and the light The waves play for no one the beaches are empty and stark Waiting for winter to start

Wounds 04:40
There was nothing I could do, nothing I could say she was so far gone they would have put me away if they found me there so I bolted from the front porch and took off in her car slammed onto the freeway but I hadn't gotten far when I turned around and started to crawl back half a mile from midnight it was me who finally cracked The road became a mirror, the mirror turned to ice I slid and slipped and fell into a shiny steel device that had suddenly appeared the metal turned to plastic, the plastic into flesh the flesh began to slowly mold into a wire mesh that held my fear and squeezed it tight squeezed until a liquid fear dripped out into the night and then the wounds opened wide, dark birds flew out sounds of violent laughter, the smell of burning rubber the sky caved in, a whisper was a shout I should have thought about all this, I should have made that promise to myself My scars became a present that was offered to the night they let me in to see him but his eyes were filled with light and he could not see so I broke the bonds of friendship and escaped onto the lawn the statues held a vigil as I wept into my arm and I collapsed inside and spent my grief a friend is still a friend until he's covered with a sheet and then the wounds opened wide, dark birds flew out sounds of violent laughter, the smell of burning rubber the sky caved in, a whisper was a shout I should have thought about all this, I should have made that promise to myself See the dawn broke like a young heart and bled up until noon by nightfall she was lying in the light of gibbous moon then with her last breath she cursed the stones of Romans and the fields of amber waves the rotting pits of Auschwitz and the filthy Eastern ways then her eyes rolled back her teeth were bared and with her dying gasp she polluted all the air and then the wounds opened wide, dark birds flew out sounds of violent laughter, the smell of burning rubber the sky caved in, a whisper was a shout I should have thought about all this, I should have made that promise to myself The silence of forever is as deafening a word a meaning lost on everyone, all of you, all of me all of Them the pain of understanding like a knife around the neck hurry call emergency we're running out of luck we're running out of luck, we're running out of luck

about

It's hard to believe it took me nearly 40 years to create my first solo project. But to be honest, I've been having too much fun helping to create so much music with my friends. My sincere and heartfelt thanks go out to Steve Flachsbart, Steve Chandler, Mitch Throop, Craig Atherton, Tom Figa, Louis DiCostanza, Joe Rotante, Steve Triggs, Toby Chamberlain, Fred Johnson, Mark Cuccinello, Jeremy Brown, Linda Picceri, Michelle Tanguay, Seth Connelly, Jon Macey, Michael Roy, John Jules, Tom Landers, Jane Fallon.
A special thanks to Ellen Schmidt who supports local music at the deepest level and without whom many of us would have no place to showcase our music.
My family has been supportive and encouraging, keeping my dream alive even in times when I felt like letting it go.
To Mary, Avielle, and Alexander, may God bless you and keep you always in His heart.
