Lesson In Gray

One day the sadness washed over me
Like a sudden autumn rain shower
Left me all wet from the tears that I let
Crying for hours and hours
now I ain’t been the same since that long ago day
Seems the sadder the harder I try
Trying to hold back this river from out of my eyes

Sunday is kept for the prayerful
To ask of the Lord for His grace
And Monday this jerk heads his way back to work
Determined to pick up the pace
Tuesday, the same, Wednesday, no change
Thursday and Friday stand pat
And Saturday’s wasted at home with the kids and the cats
