Waiting for winter to start
The leaves have all fallen
The trees are all barren and out in the yard
The ground is now ready for snow
Wait for the cold wind to blow
Bundled up tight
The dim light reveals naught but a shadow
Passing the gray shuttered windows

Where everything’s boarded up tight
The chairs and umbrellas are tucked out of sight
The waves play for no one the beaches are empty and stark

Wait for the snow to begin
Slowly at first a few flakes are picked up by the wind
And blown in the face of a man
Who is walking alone with his thoughts
Failing to notice, the snow falls and covers
The rocks and the trash from the tide by the old porch
